How to organize individual products and furniture sets

Build a consistent catalog of sofas, armchairs and tables while offering sets assembled from those products. Connect catalog decisions with sales and production needs.

Define the sellable component first

A furniture set has a marketing identity, but its components still need reliable product records. Start with independently sellable sofas, armchairs, tables and other pieces. Record names, dimensions, units, prices, tax choices and photographs clearly. Distinguish a physical catalog product from a custom item created for a particular quotation; they serve different purposes and should not be maintained as interchangeable records.

Assemble sets from existing products

A set combines existing products with quantities. One three-seat sofa, two armchairs and one coffee table can be presented together while preserving the identity of each component. Sales staff can show the complete arrangement, and the underlying product remains recognizable when sold individually. Creating a new copy of an armchair for every set makes later corrections harder to manage.

Use classification fields for distinct purposes

A category describes what the product is, a collection identifies its design family, and a brand describes its commercial identity. A sofa can belong to more than one category while belonging to one collection. A supplier can be recorded when a product is purchased ready-made. Optional fields should remain empty when the information is unknown, rather than containing invented values.

Review the catalog before customer presentation

Check the cover photograph, selling price and unit before making a product available for presentation. Fabric and leg choices should reflect the actual customization areas of that product. In multilingual operation, the primary-language information anchors the record and additional translations support customer presentation. A consistent catalog also makes quotations and production instructions easier to interpret.

  • Create individual components before assembling sets.
  • Review dimensions, units, covers and prices together.
  • Translate category names while keeping collection and brand names shared.
