Furniture production planning: internal work, suppliers and ready stock

Clarify which parts will be made internally, purchased from suppliers or taken from stock. Keep dependencies and acceptance checkpoints in one production plan.

Start with accepted products

An item marked ready by the sales team still needs production review. Missing fabric codes, dimensions, technical files or special instructions can result in a documented revision request. Acceptance confirms that the product is defined well enough to manufacture, rather than merely advancing a status. Once the products are accepted, the required sources and operations can be planned.

Do not assume one production route

A table may need internal frame, paint and finishing operations while its stone top comes from a supplier. A sofa may start with a purchased frame and be upholstered internally. Another item may be bought complete. Plan around those real sources: ready stock, external purchasing and internal operations can satisfy different requirements within one order. Not every item needs to visit every department.

Define sequence through dependencies

Some operations unlock subsequent tasks, while others can proceed in parallel. Departments need to see upcoming work, queued tasks, work in progress and completed handovers. An item awaiting materials or an external component should remain visibly blocked. Send revision and substitution proposals through the product record, preserving the reasoning behind approved changes.

Connect completion with quality and stock

Completing an operation does not automatically make a product ready for shipment. Record quality decisions, rework requirements and partial output quantities. Connect accepted output with stock and sales allocations. When assessing daily schedules and expected completion, consider materials, supplier receipts and operation sequence together before communicating a revised date to the customer.

  • Keep pre-acceptance omissions visible per product.
  • Choose internal work, purchasing and stock combinations for the actual requirement.
  • Track revisions, quality decisions and partial outputs in the product history.
